Out of more than 1,200 speakers, Walt was chosen by TEC Worldwide as the Speaker of the Year 2000. TEC (now known as Vistage worldwide) is an international organization of CEOs.

He was also featured as TEC UK Overseas Speaker of the Year in 2003.

In 2003, Walt was selected by the U.S. Department of Commerce NIST MIS to speak on behalf of their new groundbreaking national program for smaller US manufacturers called 360VU.

Walt’s book Leap of Strength was selected by The Executive Committee as an important book for CEOs. TEC purchased copies of Leap of Strength for its all of its CEO members worldwide.

Walt’s poem "Christmas 1987" won a national contest and is featured in The Literature of Work with a forward by James Autry, and published by University of Phoenix Press.

Additionally, Walt has written many articles for business publications on issues relating to CEO skills, team building, life balance and entrepreneurship.

Walt has been sponsored by business groups for speaking tours in Canada, England, Scotland, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Australia, Brazil, Argentina and China.
